DRIVER BIOGRAPHY
MATT KEMPMatt is a Michigan native, and a racer in the Midwest. Throughout his career, he has raced on many different style tracks with traveling series throughout Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. Matt is a multi-time winner in both the Mini Cup and Dwarf Car racing divisions.
MINI CUPS (2012-2016) Matt started racing in 2012 at the age of 13. Running a part time schedule in his rookie year, Matt started just one too many races to be eligible for rookie of the year in 2013. However, he still managed a runner-up in the final rookie of the year standings in 2012. Through five years of Mini Cup racing, both indoors and out, Matt captured two feature wins and seven heat race wins. In 2016, Matt started the year off with a feature win at the Kellogg Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Later in the year, he received the opportunity to start and park a Dwarf car, running only a few laps in the feature event with no prior experience. At this point, Matt and the team decided that it was time to move up. DWARF CARS (2017-PRESENT) About half way through the 2017 Michigan racing season, with only a days notice, Matt received an offer to drive a Dwarf Car for Hoffman Motorsports. He would make his first official start in the Dwarf car on June 17th, 2017. It had been 364 days since he was last in a race car, but he didn't miss a beat. Matt qualified 4th, and brought the Hoffman Motorsports entry home 3rd in the feature. After Matt's stellar rookie performance at Angola, he joined forces with 'The Outlaws' and Hoffman Motorsports with the goal of running a part time season. In his first five races, Matt collected 4 top-5's, 5 top-10s, and 2 heat race wins. After earning Rookie of the Year in 2018, the goal is to race for a championship in 2019. |
